Use the Book pages, questions, and flashcards as one study system. Life and Accident & Health have separate tracks and separate general-knowledge diagnostics.
- Learn: Understand what an insurance concept does, how it works, and which conditions change the result.
- Questions: Apply the concept and review why each answer fits or does not fit.
- Flashcards: Practice short sessions answering from memory between longer study sessions.
Mark lessons as complete
At the bottom of each Book page, select Mark as Complete after you have worked with its ideas.
- Completion appears in the chapter navigation and helps you find unfinished sections.
- It records study progress. It is not a score or a readiness result.
Use one routine for each unit
- Read the unit introduction and preview the lesson titles.
- Study each focused Book lesson.
- After the unit's lessons, select Start a Study Quiz for this Unit and review every explanation.
- Select Start a Flashcard Session for this Unit and answer from memory, then return to any concept you could not explain clearly.
The unit introduction and final lesson both show these controls. Each session draws from questions or cards authored for the focused lessons in that unit, so one session may mix those lessons.
Review the questions actively
- Read why the correct choice fits the policy, program, or contract facts.
- Check why each other choice fails. Another answer choice may describe a nearby term or a feature of another product.
- Treat a correct guess as a missed question. Reliable recall means you can explain why the answer is correct.
- Return to the lesson when an explanation reveals a gap, then try the concept again later.
- Use the unit Study Quiz for immediate practice. Use Custom Quiz in the Quizzes area to mix selected units or review a known gap later.
- Select Life or Accident & Health units to match the track you are studying.
Use flashcards for retrieval practice
- Read the prompt and state the answer in your own words before revealing the back.
- Recall the precise definition, distinguish it from a similar term, and give a simple example.
- Revisit the Book lesson if you cannot explain the answer clearly.
- Return to difficult cards after a break instead of repeating them only in the same session.
Take the diagnostic for your track
After a first pass through a track, open the Quizzes area and take its CertFuel general-knowledge diagnostic.
| Diagnostic | General-knowledge mix | Time limit |
|---|---|---|
| Life | 5 shared-foundation questions and 45 Life questions | 60 minutes |
| Accident & Health | 5 shared-foundation questions and 45 Health questions | 60 minutes |
- Choose the diagnostic for the track you studied.
- Review missed answers and answers you were unsure about, including correct guesses.
- Use the result to choose units for review.
- These diagnostics exclude state-law questions. They do not reproduce a state's complete licensing exam, official weighting, or passing score.
Build a two-pass study plan
First pass: learn the structure
- Start with Shared Foundations for risk, contract roles, needs analysis, applications, and underwriting.
- Choose the Life track, the Accident & Health track, or both.
- Work through one unit at a time and mark its pages complete.
- After the unit's lessons, start its Study Quiz and flashcard session.
Use this pass to see the full structure. Note similar terms that you need to compare again.
Second pass: repair gaps
- Take the diagnostic for the track you studied.
- Use missed and uncertain answers to select review units.
- Re-read the lessons that contain those gaps, then return to the corresponding unit Study Quiz and flashcard session after a break.
- If you are preparing for both lines, take and review each diagnostic separately.
Add state-specific exam preparation
This course teaches general insurance knowledge. Your state materials may add laws, required provisions, forms, licensing steps, and exam rules.
- Check the current candidate guide and outline for your state and line of authority.
- Study the listed state-specific material separately.
- Confirm the current exam appointment rules, identification requirements, and testing procedures with the official source.
Use these exam-study habits
- Compare both sides of similar terms, such as term versus permanent insurance, owner versus insured, elimination period versus benefit period, and Medicare Advantage versus Medigap.
- Read the complete question before choosing an answer. Identify the actor, policy type, trigger, timing, and requested result.
- Review explanations after correct answers because they may contain a condition or exception.
- Recheck current official guidance for premiums, contribution limits, benefit amounts, and enrollment details that can change.
- Finish a focused pass through one track before switching, while keeping the shared foundations available for both.
The Course Introduction shows the full map. Choose Shared Foundations, Life Insurance, or Accident & Health Insurance based on your study goal.
